Description

In Ethiopia’s Jimma region, in the village of Meti, lies the Abdo Abamacha Coffee Washing Station. Established in 2017, this small-scale facility began with just a few coffee beds and a primary processing machine, handling fewer than 20 coffee stations annually.

By 2021, the station underwent a significant expansion, increasing its capacity to process over 100 tons of coffee annually. Under the leadership of Manager Abdo Abamacha and with the support of a dedicated team including Ezedin Mohammadamin, Amir Mustafa, Abdi Muhidin, Qaid A/Sambi, Mustafa Abanura, and Kalid Shifa, the station has increased.

Located at 1879 masl, the station benefits from excellent coffee-growing conditions. Its GPS coordinates, Latitude 7.8224 and Longitude 36.5056, mark its unique position in Ethiopia’s coffee landscape.

Today, the station processes tons of green coffee annually, with methods involving up to 24 hours of fermentation and 6 to 7 days of drying. Coffee is stored for 1 to 3 months post-processing, focusing on sustainability and efficient water use.

The station collaborates with a growing number of farmers, increasing from 30 last year to 70 this year. Each batch is meticulously tracked from receipt to export, ensuring traceability and quality.

Abdo Abamacha Coffee Washing Station is committed to environmental and social responsibility, engaging in water conservation, reforestation, and supporting community development. It provides farmers with fair wages, training, and technical assistance, reinforcing its role as a key player in Ethiopia’s coffee industry.
