Description

Buno General Trading PLC operates three prominent coffee washing stations in Ethiopia: Bobea, Dambi Udo, and Korate. These stations, located in different villages, process coffee from a vast network of farmers. Bobea employs 104 people, Dambi Udo has 43, and Korate has 56, totaling 203 employees.

Established nine years ago, Buno General Trading has grown significantly, expanding its facilities and membership. Currently, 202 farmers supply coffee to these stations. The company processes various volumes annually: Korate processes natural and washed coffees, Bobea handles natural and washed varieties, and Dambi Udo processes natural coffee.

The stations focus on high-quality processing. Natural coffee is sun-dried for 12-18 days, while washed coffee dries for 8-10 days. After processing, coffee is stored separately until buyer approval. Water is used only once to wash washed coffee.

Buno General Trading ensures quality control by storing coffee in dark ceramic canisters to maintain freshness and prevent contamination. Traceability is robust, with detailed records from farm to export.

Despite facing financial challenges due to bidding issues with banks, Buno General Trading remains committed to social responsibility. They invest in building schools, providing stationery and sanitary products, and supporting youth sports.

Additional support for farmers includes rewards for high performance and training to improve production and quality. Buno General Trading continues to drive growth and sustainability in Ethiopia’s coffee industry.
