Description

Hacienda San Isidro Labrador is situated in the Dota hills, Tarrazú region. It is a family-run farm focused on the production of specialty coffee.

They have taken part in the Cup of Excellence for many years and obtained 1st place in COE 2017, 2nd place COE 2018, and 1st and 3th places in COE 2019.

El Quetzal is a natural lot made up of Geisha cherries grown at 2,000masl in the eastern part of the Hacienda San Isidro Labrador, where the highest lands of the farm are found. The coffee trees are interplanted with Cuajiniquil (Inga), Guineo (Musacas) and avocado trees, which provide shade.

The cherries go through the wet milling process at the peak of ripeness. They are then dried on African raised beds, with plastic micro-tunnels to protect the coffee from excessive night-time humidity and sporadic rains. The drying process is slow, taking 25-30 days, to allow the flavours of the honey to be concentrated on the beans.
